Rocca Paolina + My Favorites
The Rocca Paolina is located along the ancient city walls of Perugia, and was built between 1540 and 1543 by the will of Paolo III Farnese. The people of Perugia had held off papal power as long as they could, and the fortress stood as a symbol of the church's unwanted power over the city for 300 years. When Italy united, Perugian citizens ravaged the building, nearly destroying it. Address: Piazza Italia | Perugia, PG
